How to Install and Setup Scotland Yard Web Edition

After you download the syWeb.zip file, please use the Installation Guide to complete your Scotland Yard Web Edition installation.

System Requirements
    Windows 2003 Server or newer, or a dedicated workstation running Windows XP or newer.
    Microsoft .Net Framework 2.x or greater.
    Microsoft SQL Server: One of the following is required: SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2005 Express, SQL Server 2008, or SQL Server 2008 Express. (Note: SQL Server Express editions are free downloads from Microsoft.com).
    IIS 5.1 or greater.

Web-based software is great, but some times you want to run software without a browser. The Scotland Yard Web Edition now supports native support for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux using the Scotland Yard AIR desktop client software.

Scotland Yard AIR utilizes Adobe's AIR Runtime that allows for a single application to run under Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The Scotland Yard Web Edition Download (listed above) is required to setup the Scotland Yard environment. After you have the Scotland Yard Web Edition up and running, you can then decide to download the Scotland Yard AIR version to run client-side versions of Scotland Yard.

Adobe AIR allows Scotland Yard Web Client to be run outside the browser, but with the exact same look and feel as the web-based version! Employees now can choose to run the web browser version, the client-side version, or both!

Simply download the ScotlandYard AIR Zip File and install it on Windows 98, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Mac OS X, or Linux operating systems.

To install the Scotland Yard AIR client, you must have the Adobe AIR Runtime already installed.

How to Install the Scotland Yard AIR Client

  • Download the ScotlandYard.zip file to your computer's desktop and then Unzip it.
  • Locate the Scotland Yard.AIR file that was unzipped and then click on it to install
  • Follow the installation instructions and accept the default settings
  • Get the Scotland Yard Web Service URL from your system administrator
  • Click on the new Scotlland Yard icon and after Scotland Yard loads the Login Page click on the Settings button and then cut-and-paste the Scotland Yard Web Service URL into the text input field and then press the Save button.
